Build an analytics application that calculates the real operating cost of AI-powered workflows, including costs that are often overlooked when evaluating an automation idea.
Allow users to define workflow steps, model usage, input and output volume, retries, tool calls, external API charges, human review time, failure rates, and maintenance effort. Support manual estimates, imported usage logs, and actual provider billing data where available.
Calculate cost per completed task, cost per successful outcome, human time saved, exception-handling cost, and projected monthly expenditure under different usage levels.
Compare alternative workflow designs, such as using a smaller model for classification, caching repeated results, limiting unnecessary context, or escalating difficult cases to a human reviewer.
Include sensitivity analysis for changing model prices, output lengths, retry rates, and traffic volume. Separate observed usage from hypothetical projections, and do not assume that automated output is equivalent to successful work.
Generate a cost breakdown, break-even analysis, and prioritized optimization plan. Protect credentials and never require users to paste secret API keys into the analysis interface.
