The Business Promotion Profit Simulator

Build a promotion planning tool for small businesses that evaluates whether a discount, bundle, coupon, or limited-time offer is likely to improve contribution profit.

Allow users to enter product prices, unit costs, packaging expenses, payment fees, baseline sales, estimated demand changes, and promotion duration.

The application must calculate:

  • Normal versus promotional contribution per order.

  • Break-even order volume needed to compensate for reduced margins.

  • Expected incremental profit under multiple demand scenarios.

  • Bundle profitability when customers purchase products with different margins.

  • Discount cannibalization when full-price customers switch to a lower-priced offer.

  • Inventory consumption and potential stock shortages.

  • Sensitivity to discount size, conversion uplift, and average order value.

Provide a scenario builder where users can compare several promotions side by side, change assumptions interactively, and see which variables have the greatest effect on profit.

Include charts, a transparent calculation breakdown, CSV import/export, and a sample retail dataset.

Separate revenue growth from profit growth. Do not assume that a promotion creates incremental demand simply because sales increase. Label uncertain demand uplift as an assumption and show downside scenarios before recommending an offer.
