The Data Freshness Contract Builder

Build a platform that helps engineering teams define and validate freshness contracts for datasets, APIs, reports, and data pipelines.

For each data source, let users specify expected update frequency, maximum acceptable delay, business criticality, downstream consumers, and behavior during an outage. Support timestamp-based freshness checks, sample metadata imports, and configurable validation rules.

Generate machine-readable contracts, monitoring rules, escalation policies, and test cases. Simulate late-arriving records, paused pipelines, clock inconsistencies, partial updates, and upstream outages to determine how each contract behaves.

Visualize dependency chains so users can see which dashboards, reports, and business decisions depend on stale data. Distinguish a source that is late from a source that is updated but contains incorrect information.

Include a local demo environment, versioned contracts, an incident history, and exportable configuration files. Make thresholds explicit and editable, avoid false assurances when monitoring data is missing, and do not require a paid external service for the core demonstration.
