The API Authentication Journey Visualizer

Create an interactive visualization tool that explains how a request moves through authentication and authorization layers in a modern API.

Allow developers to define a simulated system involving login, session cookies, access tokens, refresh tokens, API keys, roles, scopes, middleware, and protected resources. Represent each request as a sequence of inspectable steps showing credential extraction, validation, identity resolution, permission checks, and the final response.

Include scenarios involving expired tokens, revoked sessions, missing scopes, incorrect audiences, cross-origin requests, refresh-token rotation, and privilege escalation attempts. Let users modify configuration and immediately compare successful and rejected request paths.

Generate sequence diagrams, sample test cases, and a security review checklist based on the selected architecture. Explain the difference between authentication and authorization at each relevant step.

Use synthetic credentials only. Never request production secrets or connect to real user accounts. Label assumptions clearly and avoid suggesting that a visualization alone proves an implementation is secure.
