Build a developer workbench for testing webhook delivery behavior under realistic failure conditions.
Users can define event payloads, endpoint responses, retry policies, signature rules, and expected delivery guarantees. The application should simulate an event provider sending notifications to a receiving application.
Include controls for:
Returning configurable HTTP status codes and response delays.
Simulating network timeouts, connection failures, duplicate deliveries, and out-of-order events.
Testing exponential backoff, retry limits, and dead-letter handling.
Demonstrating idempotency keys and duplicate-event protection.
Verifying payload signatures using a clearly documented cryptographic implementation.
Replaying a selected event or entire scenario deterministically.
Comparing event delivery timelines and identifying lost, duplicated, or delayed events.
Provide a test assertion builder, event log, failure summary, downloadable test report, and example receiver code.
Keep simulated delivery separate from real HTTP requests. Any real endpoint testing must require explicit user action, display the target URL, and warn about side effects. Never expose signing secrets in logs. Include tests for replay attacks, invalid signatures, duplicate events, and retry exhaustion.
