The Employee Workload Fairness Auditor

Build an interactive workload auditing tool that helps managers understand whether work is distributed fairly across a team.

Users can import or manually enter tasks with estimated effort, deadlines, complexity, priority, required skills, assigned owner, and task status. They can also define employee availability, working hours, responsibilities, and planned leave.

The application must:

  1. Calculate assigned workload against available capacity.

  2. Separate task count from estimated effort and complexity.

  3. Detect deadline collisions, excessive context switching, skill bottlenecks, and dependency-related overload.

  4. Compare workload across people performing similar roles.

  5. Model reassignment scenarios and show the effect on deadlines and individual capacity.

  6. Explain which assumptions drive every overload or imbalance warning.

  7. Track recurring work that is routinely missing from formal task systems.

  8. Export a team capacity report with recommended actions.

Include a timeline, capacity heatmap, task reassignment interface, and sample team dataset.

Do not equate equal task counts with fairness. Account for part-time schedules, approved leave, role differences, and uncertainty in estimates. Avoid using the tool to infer employee performance, health, or personal circumstances. Make recommendations explainable and require human review before assignments change.
